Dr. Zhang Jianyu is currently Professor of the Renmin University of China, Deputy Director of the Buddhist Art Research Institute at the Renmin University of China. He received his Ph.D. in art history from Tsinghua University in 2011. His research focuses on the history of Chinese art, with a focus on Buddhist art in medieval China, the Sino-foreign art exchange along the Silk Route, and Chinese traditional paintings and calligraphy.

Awards
In 2021, the book Study on the Art Space of the Han and Tang Dynasties - Taking Dunhuang Mural as the Center won the 16th “Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award” which was issued by Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles.
In 2018, the book Zhen Dai Lin Quan: A Study on the Residence-Garden Relationship of the Classical Garden in Suzhou won the 8th "Hu Sheng Youth Academic Award " which was issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
In 2012, the essay "The Textual Research on the Residence-garden Relationship of Early Suzhou Residential Garden" won the 12th “Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award” which was issued by Beijing Federation of Social Sciences Circles.
