Chen Chuanxi was born in 1943 in Sui Ning, Jiang Su Province. He holds
Doctoral Degree from School of Arts , Nanjing Normal University . He is
adviser of doctoral students, recipient of State Department Special
Fellowship, member of Chinese Artists Association, visiting professor of
China Central Academy of Fine Arts, professor of Xu Beihong School of
Arts at Renmin University . He was researcher of University of Kansas .
He was the organizer of the very first international academic seminar in
Chinese art circles; curator of Painting of Ming and Qing Dynasty
Exhibition including 36 museums nationwide. He went to U.S. in 1986 to
do research in Chinese painting of Ming and Qing Dynasty and review
Chinese ancient art works collected in U.S. , Japan and British. After
he went back to China , he pursues his study in art history and
literature history.
He has totally 36 academic books
published, Study the Theory of Drawing in Six Dynasties, Chinese
Landscape Painting History, Theory History of Chinese Painting,
Aesthetics History of Chinese Painting, Theory of Contemporary Art, to
name a few. He also has over 500 academic papers published. Based on
Art, professor Chen occupies the first place in art history research. He
has advised international students and scholars from 16 different
countries. His proses have been collected in Chinese Prose in 21st
Century; His paintings have been collected in Chinese Painting Yearbook.
His books Anthology of Chuanxi Chen and Surmise in Hui Hui Wan Room
have been published. He also had many solo exhibitions in Moscow , Jiang
Su province and Shan Dong province.
